Verity Johnson

Verity and I first met at a cool coffee hang in Waterloo in the middle of the day and, a couple of hours later, we were both over-caffeinated and over-stimulated. Sometimes you meet someone and just chat and chat and chat about everything under the sun. Verity’s like that.

Despite the conversation being hugely animated and excited, what has always impressed me about Verity since is just how grounded she is. I can have a conversation with her in the middle of the maelstrom that is tech week, when the set has just fallen down, the costumes are ripped, the producers are screaming blue bloody murder and Verity is just this oasis of calm in the middle of the storm. It’s exactly this moderated, calm demeanour that you want around.

Her work is just as beautiful and again you can see it in this sense of calm, this grounding force of design around which everything coalesces. It’s one of the tenets of great design, I think, and I’m looking forward to Verity’s next project immensely.
