You know when you just hit it off with someone? Yeah, that.
I first 'met' Meryl during an online Q&A. I'd reviewed her CV and showreel and knew she was a formidable talent. I was delighted to discover during the Q&A that she was really well prepared and had some very thoughtful questions. It wasn't until a couple of months later, though, that she wrote to me and asked if I would mind continuing the conversation with a view to representing her. There followed one of the most engaging and entertaining hours as we chatted over Zoom. It was one of those conversations that just veered off in all directions, constantly tangent-ing (that's a word now, OK!) as we discussed everything under the sun. Ever since Meryl has continued to delight me with her give-it-a-go attitude to everything I suggest her for, her brilliant sense of humour and her wicked giggle.
There's much more to Meryl than a hugely accomplished actress with great range though. She's also a hugely talented writer who has been developing her first play throughout lockdown, proving that creativity doesn't wane. It's like a fine wine that becomes even richer and more delicious as it gets older. A bit like Meryl.
